The right finish for the right floor

We understand the delights in revealing and finishing a beautiful timber floor from underneath that old carpet or from years of hard traffic and soil. We offer a range of floor finishes that can suit your taste and lifestyle. Typically these can be traditional solvent-based polyurethanes, hard wearing water based urethanes or oil based finishes. Ask us, we will happily discuss the advantages of characteristics of any finish.

Polyurethane
Polyurethane is a highly abrasion-resistant high solid moisture-curing finish. Available in a wide range of gloss levels.

Waterborne Coating
A range of non-toxic, enviromentally friendly, low odour finishes. Hard wearing abrasion-resistant floor coating. Available in matt to gloss finishes.

Tung Oil
Based on natural Tung oil, it is designed as a deep penetrating floor seal that produces a rich protective finish, which remains and enhances the original natural timber colours.

Hard Oil
Synteko Solid Hardwood floor oil is an alkyd based high solid oil with excellent properties. Hard oil is especially recommended for use in commercial areas, stores, restaurants, museums, and other areas where a high wear resistance is needed.

What to Expect
You can expect:

  • Good advise from your contractor.
  • Nails to be punched and filled, end joins, knots and parquetry to be adequately filled. It is not a recommended practice for gaps between boards to be filled.
  • Some minor imperfections and dust to be evident in the floor finish. It's not practical or reasonable to expect a furniture finish on your floor.
  • Down lights and some fluorescent lights will highlight swirl marks in the coating.
  • It may be wise to arrange alternate accommodation, if possible for 24 hours to allow thorough drying on the floor and to avoid the possibility of exposure to unpleasant odours during the drying time.
  • Full curing of the floor will take 10 to 14 days.
